6 Zanu PF supporters killed in lorry accident

Six Zanu PF members died on Saturday evening and 17 others were seriously injured when the truck they were travelling on was involved in an accident in Buhera.

The lorry reportedly collided head-on with another vehicle in the Mugombe area of Buhera.

According to a tweet by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Ndavaningi Mangwana, three of the deceased died on the spot and the other three died at Murambinda District Hospital.

Tweeted Mangwana: “A Lorry carrying Zanu PF supporters was involved in an accident along the Murambinda-Birchnough Bridge road. Three people died on the spot whilst the other three died at Murambinda Hospital, making six deaths.

“The other 17 have serious injuries and are in hospital.”

Police confirmed the accident saying, the Isuzu lorry with 40 passengers on board collided head-on with a Nissan Diesel truck which had one passenger on board.

“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on 25/03/23 along Murambinda – Betera Road, near Mugombe Primary School, in which six people died while 18 others were injured when an Isuzu lorry with 40 passengers on board was involved in a head-on collision with a Nissan Diesel truck which had one passenger on board.

“The bodies of the victims were taken to Murambinda Hospital mortuary for post-mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital,” police said.

Police are, however, yet to release the names of the six people who were killed in the tragic accident as their next of kin are still to be informed.
