Host province Mashonaland East emerged tops in the National Association of Secondary School Heads national athletic competitions held at Peterhouse, in the provincial capital, Marondera, last week.
The province’s medal haul of 23 gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze landed them first position while Harare Metropolitan, with 19 gold, 19 silver and 16 bronze medals came second.
Mashonaland West Province came third with 19 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals. Manicaland Province ended in fourth position after amassing 11 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze medals.
Masvingo Province was fifth after scooping ten gold, 15 silver and 12 bronze medals in both track and field events.
Matabeleland South Province came sixth with six gold, nine silver and 11 bronze medals, followed by Mashonaland Central with five gold, five silver and four bronze medals.
Bulawayo Metropolitan emerged eighth after getting three gold, nine silver and nine bronze medals.
Ninth and 10th positions went to Matabeleland North with three gold, four silver and five bronze medals and Midlands Province with one gold, two silver and five bronze medals, respectively.
