Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe Frederick Shava has said Zimbabwe will appoint an ambassador to Belarus in the coming months during the ongoing visit of the Zimbabwe delegation in Belarus.
This comes after Zimbabwe officially opened an embassy in Belarus.
Minister Shava said Belarus already runs an embassy in Zimbabwe hence, based on the principles of reciprocity, Zimbabwe has to open an embassy in Belarus as well.
“We have already discussed the interior works in the premises where the embassy is located. And this will be done as quickly as possible. Only after that, an ambassador will be appointed. This will not be long in coming, within the next few months,” said Shava.
Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik remarked that an impressive amount of work had been done in the last few years, which allowed advancing to a brand-new level of mutual relations between Belarus and Zimbabwe.
He added that a historical visit of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Zimbabwe has been held.
“A number of agreements have been secured. All of them were formalized and implemented into a roadmap between the states. This voluminous document covers events concerning politics, diplomacy, trade, economy, agriculture, healthcare, medicine, security, power engineering, sales and aftersales service of machines, equipment, and vehicles.
“I am pleased to state that all the vehicles shipped to Zimbabwe are in use and we are getting positive feedback,” he said.
Belarus will be directly involved in the construction of new grain storage facilities and the modernization of existing ones.
“Belarus has started executing a contract on selling fire trucks to Harare,” he said.
