A woman from New Chisamba, Sakubva, in Mutare had her daughter arrested after she found crystal meth in her handbag.
Trish Matikiti was remanded in custody to April 12, by Mutare magistrate Perseverance Makala for possession of crystal meth.
She appeared in court this week.
Prosecutor Joice Tinarwo told the court that Trish was arrested on Monday after she came home drunk.
Matikiti’s mother, Christina Maruta searched her handbag and found a sachet of Crystal Methamphetamine wrapped in a ZWL$20 bill.
“Maruta then called the Police, who arrested her daughter after discovering a gram of crystal meth in her bag.
“Upon arrival, Maruta noticed that Trish was drunk and suspected her daughter to be on drugs. She then searched her handbag and found a sachet of Crystal Methamphetamine concealed in a ZWL$20 note. After recovering the drug, she called Police officers who swiftly came and seized the sachet from the accused,” Tinarwo said.
Magistrate Makala advised Matikiti to apply for bail at the High Court.
