Church leader Dr. Edd Branson and entrepreneur Priscilla Tatenda Matsambire have been named on the list of the inaugural Afri50 Trailblazer Awards to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa on May 1, 2023.
Dashboard Africa Research Institute and a select group of freelance journalists selected 50 African trailblazers who have made a significant impact in their respective fields, leading the way in science and technology, finance, sports, and entrepreneurship.
The organisers of the event have invited several dignitaries to attend the event, including heads of state, former heads of state, vice presidents, diplomats, and other notable personalities as their presence underscores the importance of the Afri50 Trailblazer Awards in recognizing the achievements of African trailblazers and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps
Branson who is also a businessman and philanthropist has been nominated for Citizen Diplomacy and Investment
In 2019, he was the first Zimbabwean to be appointed Commissioner African Cultural Diversity and Entrepreneurship by the Global Diplomatic Council and International Commission of Diplomacy.
Again, the same year, Branson received an honorary doctorate from The Global Academy of Social Sciences of India the doctorate was for his Philanthropy and Humanitarian Leadership work.
He was also one of the two people honoured by the World Business Leaders' Summit hosted by His Royal Highness H.E Rashid Farooq Al Arshi in Dubai.
Branson was accorded the title Ambassador for WHAF (World Habitat Ambassador Forum). WHAF works in conjunction with the United Nations to provide sustainable housing for marginalized people all over the world. This prestigious accolade places him in the hall of fame
Matsambire who has been nominated for Clothing and Finance was born and raised in an entrepreneurial home where she became skilled at the basics of selling fast moving consumer goods.
In Zimbabwe and beyond, she is best known by her trade name ‘Priscins Petals’ a clothing brand that does outfits for executive women which have been recommended by businesswomen.
Priscins Petals has Priscins Shoes which also supplies quality footwear and has footprints in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
