Mapeza Sacked by Scottland

Scottland have reportedly dismissed head coach Norman Mapeza, although the club has yet to publicly announce its separation from the experienced coach.

ZimNow understands that the club sent Mapeza a dismissal letter, confirming its decision to part ways with the former Zimbabwe national team coach.

Speaking to ZimNow over the phone, a source close to the matter revealed that the decision had been made earlier but was communicated later to manage the situation following the team's defeat in Angola.

“Mapeza was supposed to receive the dismissal letter soon after his defeat in Angola. However, to manage the situation, they sent it to him today,” the source told ZimNow.

Meanwhile, speculation has been circulating that Scottland could be considering Dynamos coach Aristica Cioaba as a possible replacement for Mapeza.

However, the source dismissed the rumours, insisting that the club was not considering the Romanian tactician for the position.

“The club is not considering signing Aristica Cioaba,” the source said.

Mapeza's reported dismissal comes after Scottland suffered a disappointing exit from the CAF Champions League despite heading into the second leg with a 2-0 advantage. The elimination is understood to have increased pressure on the technical team, with the club's continental ambitions ending earlier than anticipated.

Domestically, Scottland have also faced pressure in the league title race, with the club reportedly occupying second place as Hardrock FC lead the championship chase.

The combination of the continental disappointment and the pressure to maintain a strong domestic campaign appears to have contributed to the club's decision to part ways with Mapeza.

Scottland are yet to issue an official statement confirming the coach's departure or naming a potential successor.

Until the club makes a formal announcement, the circumstances surrounding Mapeza's reported dismissal and the identity of his possible replacement remain subject to confirmation.
