A village party in Beitbridge Wes turned tragic after a man from Limpopo fatally assaulted and stabbed a 17-year-old teenager.
Kepaletso Moyo, 23, who has since been arrested, is accused of having used an Okapi knife to stab Rendani Nguluvhe from Swereki area on the back of the head early on Saturday morning.
Officer Commanding police in Beitbridge, Chief Superintendent Tichaona Nyongo, said Moyo will appear in court soon charged with murder.
According to Chief Supt Nyongo, the two were at a village party in the Swereki area, when at around 1:20am Nguluvhe had a misunderstanding with Moyo’s cousin over an undisclosed matter which degenerated into a fist fight.
Moyo’s cousin ran away to alert Moyo who came and kicked and punched Nguluvhe before stabbing him on the back of the head with an okapi knife and fleeing, leaving him unconscious.
The 17-year-old was rushed to Swereki Clinic and swiftly moved to Beitbridge District Hospital. He was discharged two days later when he was stable and went home, but died from the wounds the following day. His post-mortem will be done in Bulawayo.
Police went to the party but could not find Moyo, but launched a manhunt after the death and arrested him at his homestead.
