Chitown man in court over dagga

Michael Mashiri

A Chitungwiza drug dealer who was caught packing the narcotics appeared in court for initial remand.

Malvin Chikore, 32, of Unit O, Chitungwiza was before the Harare Magistrates' Court accused of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs and being in possession of unspecified medicines.

The State, through Tariro Gwatidzo, alleges that on April 7, at around 1300 hours, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare received information that there was rampant drug dealing at Chikore’s residence.

The police quickly went there and found him seated on the sofa packing dagga (skunk) from a big transparent plastic sachet.

They found four big plastic sachets and twenty small sachets of dagga, which Chikore was packing on the table.

He was subsequently arrested and taken to CID Drugs for further investigations.

The dagga was weighed in Chikore's presence and weighed 123 grammes.
