Parents arrested, charged with murder of missing daughter

A couple has been accused of murder after they failed to account for their one-year-old daughter.

The couple, who are both police officers, are said to have been divorced before the mother of the child was deployed on the operation code-named “Operation Chikorokoza Chapera” for a year and left the child in the custody of the father.

“Allegations are that on an unknown date but end of February 2020, the accused number 2 was deployed at Zvishavane Chikorokoza duties and she left her daughter in the custody of the accused person number 1 though they had separated around December 2019.

“At the end of the Chikorokoza duties, after about one month, the accused 2 returned. Since then, the two accused persons could not give a satisfactory explanation on the whereabouts of their child.

“This raised suspicion that they might have murdered the child and concealed the death of the child, since no one knows where the child is even their relatives. No report of a missing person was made by the two. The accused persons were then arrested on suspected murder charges,” reads part of the police memo.
