Man intoxicates, rapes minor

A 37-year-old man from Mudzi who reportedly gave beer to a minor and went on to rape her is wanted for questioning by the police.

According to the police, the incident happened at around 10pm on April 8, in Mbengo Village under Chief Mukota, in Mudzi, Mashonaland East Province.

After the act, the suspect threatened the minor with death if she ever revealed the incident.

The facts of the matter are that the suspect and the 15-year-old girl were at a memorial service and at around 10pm, the man offered the minor some beer which she took until she got intoxicated.

The suspect then allegedly asked the girl to accompany him to a nearby tuckshop and she consented.

While they were on their way, it is alleged, the suspect grabbed and dragged her away from the road into a nearby bush where he forced her on the ground and raped her once.

The suspect reportedly disappeared into the darkness after the act.

The matter came to light after the girl narrated her ordeal to her cousin who then informed the girl’s mother.

Provincial police spokesperson for Mashonaland East, Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi confirmed the incident and appealed to the public for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect.

Insp Chazovachiyi urged parents and guardians to observe activities of their minor children at all times.
