Man in court for unlawful entry, theft

A man who embarked on a series of unlawful entry, stealing people’s property has appeared in court.

Luckman Chikutira, 25, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of unlawful entry.

The complainant in the matter is Kudzai Muchenjekwa, 29, of Milton Park, Harare.

The State alleges that, on April 21, at 1730 hours, Muchenjekwa left his property intact at the veranda of his house while going to bed.

As hours went by during the night, Chikutira went to Muchenjekwa workplace and scaled over a precast wall and entered.

While inside Chikutira took a marketing banner, a camera stand and disappeared.

On April 22, 2023, Muchenjekwa discovered the offence and reported the matter at ZRP Milton Park.

On April 24, 2023, detectives from CID Stores and Business, Harare were informed that Chikutira was the one who had committed the offence, leading to his arrest.

He then led detectives to the recovery of the marketing banner which was part of the stolen property.

The total value of stolen property was US$3 000 and property worth US$550 was recovered.

Chikutira is also facing another count as the State alleges that, on April 16, 2023 at 1930 hours, the complainant in the matter, Sebam Energy Pvt Ltd, represented by Grace Mbofana, secured her shop by closing all windows, locked the door and went home.

On the same day during the night, Chikutira went to Mbofana’s workplace and used an unknown object to break the aluminium window and got inside.

While inside Chikutira stole six pairs of safety shoes, 31 pairs of sneakers, 20 pairs of men's formal shoes, 54 men’s formal suits, two pairs of sandals and became evasive.

On April 17, 2023, Mbofana discovered the offence and reported the matter at ZRP Avondale.

On April 25, 2023 detectives from CID Stores and Business, Harare were informed that Chikutira was the one who had committed the offence, leading to his arrest.

Chikutira led detectives to the recovery of a pair of navy blue suit and a pair of men's formal shoes which are part of the stolen property

Chikutira was ordered to appear in court again on May 2, 2023 for bail application.
