Premiership newboys Greenfuel FC registered their first win of the season after beating Tonderai Ndiraya’s Simba Bhora at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.

A solitary first half strike from Washington Mapuya was enough to hand the ethanol boys their first win of the season following a poor start to te 2023 season.

Greenfuel have changed coaches thrice in one and half months but had gone for six games without collecting maximum points.

Initially t was Lloyd Mutasa who presided over the team’s 1-0 defeat to Yadah FC in their opener at Gibbo Stadium in Triangle.

Muasa was then “promoted” to technical director and was replaced by his deputy Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu.

However, Greenfuel fell 2-1 to Manica Diamonds and 3-0 to Hwange as well as two 1-1 draws with Herentals and new boys Sheasham FC.

Last week, Greenfuel lost 3-2 to Ngezi Platinum Stars and Ndlovu was shown the exit door immediately and was promptly replaced by former Ngezi Platinum Stars coach, Rodwell Dhlakama.

It is Dhlakama who has collected his first set of maximum points in his first game in charge.

Club chairman Fredson Moyo praised Dhlakama for the win, adding that the club has a long term plan with Dhlakama.

“The gods have finally smiled at us. It was long overdue for us to get maximum points. Kudos to the new technical leadership. They are playing to win. It’s difficult to start and get a win on day one. Incredible performance from the boys and the coaches. We have a long term plan with Dhlakama. This year we are playing to survive relegation,” he said.
