A 90-year-old Dandaro Village man on Sunday lost US$16 000 to three robbers who gained entry into his home.
Michael George found three men in his house when he woke up at around midnight.
The suspects stuffed a cloth into his mouth and tied his hands and legs before ransacking the house.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case, saying Michael sustained a swollen right jaw and bruises on both his hands and legs.
George was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for medical examination.
“The complainant was asleep in his bedroom when three men jumped a precast wall to gain entry into his yard,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The robbers were reported to have gone to his bedroom and forced a cloth down into his mouth, and tied his hands and legs with cables.
“They ransacked the house and took an envelope containing US$16 000 from the complainant’s home,” said Insp Chakanza.
