The Foreign Affairs and International Trade ministerial spokesperson, Mr Livit Mugejo, has announced that Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi will visit the country for a three-day period that will consolidate the long-standing relationship between the two countries.

The visit follows the agreements reached by the two during the Zimbabwe-Mozambique Joint Permanent Cooperation held in November 2021.

President Nyusi will be in the country from May 17-19.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade wishes to inform that the President of the Republic of Mozambique, His Excellency Cde Filipe Nyusi, is scheduled to undertake a State visit to Harare, Zimbabwe from 17 to 19 May 2023.

“His Excellency Nyusi will lead a delegation comprising the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique, Honourable Veronica Macamo, Government Ministers and other Senior Government officials.

The two nations have made enormous strides in expanding Zimbabwe-Mozambique direct cooperation using the potential of both countries and establishing a foundation anchored on principles of openness, mutual respect, trust and friendship, Mr Mugejo said.

President Nyusi is expected to tour the National heroes Acre in Harare and preside over a ceremony to signal commencement of the construction of a monument in honour of the founding Mozambican President, the late President Samora Machel, at the Museum of African Liberation.

The two countries are also expected to convene a Business Forum.
