Foreign Affairs Minister Fredrick Shava is on an official visit to China at the invitation of his counterpart in the Asian country.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Friday that Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang invited Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe Frederick Shava for an official visit to China from May 27 to June 2.
Shava, who served as ambassador of Zimbabwe to China for seven years will also be in China at a time when Zimtrade is holding a business summit for
Zimbabwean entrepreneurs in Beijing.
China and Zimbabwe have a friendship that dates to the liberation struggle and the two countries have been developing trade and investment relations and in 2022 Zimbabwe achieved a record trade surplus exporting over US$1,3billion to China.
Chinese owned companies in Zimbabwe also exported products to other countries in Africa and beyond adding to the forex inflows for the country.
China has become Zimbabwe’s largest tobacco buyer as well as investment channel as Chinese companies have invested millions of dollars into mining and other ventures.
