Juvenile rape pregnancy lands man in court

8 Pregnancy 'Rules' You Can Break

Michael Mashiri

A man who was in the habit of raping a juvenile whenever she passed through his house on her way to school or to her house has appeared in court after it was later suspected that the complainant is now pregnant.

Vusa Ryan Dzimwasha, 41, appeared before magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka accused of rape.

The complainant in this matter is a juvinel aged 17.

The State, through prosecutor Tawanda Nyandoro, alleges that sometime between 2022 and May 2023, Dzimwasha on several occasions would hold the complainant's hand whilst on her way to school or home as she passed through his house.

He would take the complainant inside his house and have unprotected sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

On May 29, 2023 at around 2000 hours, the complainant was at home when she started vomiting in the toilet and her sister asked her if she had had sexual intercourse with someone since she was suspecting that she was pregnant.

She was reluctant to speak at first, but later revealed that Dzimwasha raped her several times on different occasions at his house.

She then went to the police station with her sister and reported the case leading to his arrest at his house.

Dzimwasha was ordered to pay ZWL$150 000 as bail recognisance.

He will appear in court on June 20.
