Renowned strongman, Jonathan “Mr Mat” Muvingi is battling to raise funds to finance his trip to Egypt where he is set to defend his title at the African Kurash Championships on July 6.

The 33-year-old professional wrestler won gold at the 18th African Kurash Championships held in South Africa in August 2022 and has represented Zimbabwe at several international competitions.

He is also famous for being the first local strongman to pull a 30-tonne truck.

However, the strongman might miss the opportunity to defend his title if he fails to raise enough funds for the upcoming African Championships.

“I’m requesting financial assistance and support from the corporate world to continue flying the Zimbabwean flag high as much as I would want to,” said Muvingi, who has been in the game for a decade now.

Muvingi has one big motivation ahead of the Championships.

He wants to win gold again and raise funds for his academy in Damofalls, Harare.

The strongman also intends to use the academy to fight against drug abuse.
