Revered cleric Archbishop Dr Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti died last night aged 100, exactly two months after celebrating his centenary birthday. On the occasion of his 100th birthday, controversial prophet Passion Java “predicted that the centenarian was about to die”.
The prophecy that Prophet Passion posted on Facebook and has torched a storm as the charismatic founder of ZAOGA, an international Christian ministry whose teachings have changed the lives of many globally, breathed his last.
In his prophecy, Passion said he saw celestial beings celebrating Ezekiel Guti’s homecoming and he saw one who was holding a trumpet and a golden bowel saying it is time, the time is now.
Passion went on to advise Baba Guti, as Ezekiel Guti is known by his congregation, to put his house in order and said that sadly after his death ZAOGA FIF will be divided.
“Baba Guti is about to die. This is not a skit but a Prophetic word from God unto Baba Ach bishop Ezekiel Guti.
“Our death is not the end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us and we are them. Our bodies are only but wilted leaves on the tree of life, and the distinction between past, present, and future is death
“While the whole world was celebrating your birthday, Baba, As l was ministering to the Lord in prayers and fastings, while in Dubai. l saw Celestial Beings celebrating your coming home, and l saw one who was holding a trumpet and a golden bowel saying, “lt is time, and the time is now”.
“You have fought a good fight, you have kept the faith. Put thine house in Oder because at your departure, Z.A.O.G.A will be divided into two.
Hebrews 9:27
“Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that, judgment comes
Happy Birthday, Baba,” went Passion’s prophecy, which bhe posted on Facebook then.
Following Dr Guti’s demise, a number of people have come out saying there is nothing in Passion’s prophet can excite anyone.
The Founder of a Chitungwiza-based Pentecostal church who preferred anonymity told Zim Now that Dr Guti’s advanced age would discredit any prophecy or foretelling of his death as this would be expected by virtue of his age.
“At the celebration of is birthday, we also got from God that Dr Giti’s time was up, but we did not want to publicise it because of his age. It discredits the prophecy because at 100 years, you do not expect someone to live longer. Anyone can tell that someone could be on his way out at that age, but we cannot then say here is an accurate prophecy. Maybe if he had given a date. However, it is difficult to say there was no prophecy or otherwise but on the basis of age, the prophecy is rendered worthless,” he said.
The cleric, who is a bishop in his church, added that perhaps what Passion said about the division in the church might come in but again there is nothing new.
“The divisions were already evident well before Dr Guti passed on. At this point, those simmering divisions which had not taken place because of Dr Guti’s presence. In a way, these divisions are indeed going to take place. Not that it will be divided into two, but there will be many splinter groupings that will emerge after the demise of Dr Guti,” said the Bishop.
“I think it was an accurate prophecy because he put it out on a public platform. I would not want to say much, though,” said Dread, who works around the Fife Avenue area but did not want his real name shared.
“It’s not a joke to get to a 100 years. Passion is not a prophet. He is rather a motivational speaker. We are not mourning but rather celebrating Dr Guti’s life,” Mhofu, who hails from Mufakose in the capital, told Zim Now.
A senior civil servant with the Department of Veterinary Services, contacted by telephone in his individual capacity told Zim Now that it is unAfrican to talk about someone’s death as it would be rendered as witchcraft.
“I do not believe there as human being who can talk to God. This is a mere coincidence. However, no one can foretell anybody’s death because people will then say you have caused the death,” he said.
Some went on Facebook to express their view of Passion’s prophecy.
“Indava maZimba makapusa stereki.
Baba Guti was old man!! and we all knew he was gonna die soon.
Indava muchikabira kabira kupa vanhu nyembe dzisiri dzavo.
Prophet my foot!!” wrote Anatollia Rufungura.
Several Facebook users wrote supporting Prophet Passion, arguing that indeed his prophecy had come to pass.
“And finally the Sharpest Prophet In The World Award goes to none other than false Prophet Passion Java. He prophesied that the 100 year old Ezekiel Guti was about to die two months ago, and his prophecy was fulfilled today. This charlatan is a real prophet,” wrote Thabang Elijah Sekgobela.
Eugene One Kebapetse differed: “I still maintain that Passion Java’s public prophecy about Ezekiel Guti’s death is like telling a final year college student that ‘I see you graduating’.”
Born Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti, in a small village Matema-Ngaaone-Chichichi in Chipinge, on May, 5, 1923 at the height of Christian missionary work in Africa.
Dr Guti’s first encounter with Christianity was through his mother when as a young boy his mother heard a preacher in her area preaching about Jesus Christ and why everyone had to repent so as not to go to a place called hell. This message shared to him by his mother sat deeply upon his soul. Without a Bible or a spiritual counsellor, Ezekiel set out to find this Jesus Christ on his own and ensure that his soul would never be condemned to hell.
ZAOGA is one of the oldest Pentecostal churches in the country and the African continent, where it has over 2 000 assemblies. Internationally, it is known as the “Forward in Faith Ministries International” and is present in over 125 nations globally.
Dr Guti established a number of schools, both primary and secondary and became one of the very few private players in the tertiary education sector with the university Ezekiel Guti University in Bindura.
During his lifetime, Dr Guti was also a seasoned author with over 50 published books and had spoken on many stages all over the world.
