A man who was allegedly in the business of supplying drugs in Chitungwiza has been taken to court.
Liberty Gavaza, 21, of Seke, in Chitungwiza appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with unlawfully possessing dangerous drugs.
The State alleges that on July 5, 2023 at around 1200 hours, the police was informed that Gavaza was moving around with dangerous drugs in Chitungwiza using a silver VW Polo vehicle.
Detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics went there after they had been informed that Gavaza was going to Dema to supply Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly referred as crystal metth.
They spotted his car moving along Harare-Wedza road until it reached a dust road linking Zhanje Village and Dema.
They trailed it and managed to block it in the village.
They identified themselves and informed Gavaza of their mission.
A body search was done leading to the seizure of big sachet and 4 small sachets of crystal meth wrapped in a black sock from his zipped left trousers’ pocket.
The car was also searched but nothing was found.
Gavaza was subsequently arrested and was escorted to CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare together with seized drugs where a field test was conducted in his presence and it tested positive to crystal meth.
The drug was weighed and recorded approximately 62 grammes with a street value of the ZWL$4 960 000.
Gavaza was remanded in custody to July 13 for bail ruling.
