Grain Marketing board spokesperson and freelance journalist Joseph Katete has appeared in court facing allegations of killing his teen relative.
The state alleged that Katete and the now deceased Craig Dendera, 17, were at home in New Mabvuku, Harare.
They were waiting for Maxwell Katete who was coming to take Joseph the doctor for an appointment. Joseph has bipolar disorder.
Fatly Salaudi, a church elder arrived at the residence intending to pray for Joseph.
On opening the door, she found Joseph sitting on top of Craig who was covered with a blanket.
Salaudi then persuaded the accused to stand up and he turned violent and threatened to kill her.
Salaudi raised alarm and Joseph’s father father, Frank Katete, 84, came to the rescue.
But he found Joseph was pressing the Craigon the floor and he was already dead.
Presiding magistrate Ms Munashe Chibanda advised Katete to apply for bail at the High Court.
