National Foods employee up for fraud

A Manron Solutions driver has appeared in court for defrauding National Foods Private Limited more than ZWL$380.

Nyasha Makohliso, 19, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi charged with fraud at the Harare Magistrates' Courts.

The complainant in this matter is National Foods Private Limited represented by its loss control officer, Bhoki Nyambo, 40.

The State, through prosecutor Zororai Nkomo, alleges that from 8 to 27 December 8 to 27, 2022, Makohliso was given a task to deliver goods from National Foods Private Limited to Gain Junction, N. Richards, Graniteside in Harare Gain Mbare.

After the delivery, Makohliso was then given an assortment of groceries as breakages and they completed return claim forms in which reasons for rejection were stated.

The returns claim form together with the invoice were given to Makohliso for him to take back to the complainant, National Foods, for a refund.

Makohliso then connived with one Ngonidzashe Saymore Mafume, who has already appeared in court, and converted the groceries to their own use.

Mafume then raised a goods received voucher purporting that the 28 cases of rice Norich Sales had returned had been received by National Foods.

The offence came to light when Norich Sales Bindura claimed an outstanding credit note of the goods it had returned.

When checks were made with books and records, it was realised that all the rejected rice was never received by National Foods.

As a result, National Foods lost ZWL$380 612.39.

Makohliso was ordered to appear in court on September 20.
