A Kambuzuma man has been taken to court for participating in a fraud that saw the complainant losing ZWL$30 000 000.

Tafadzwa Nyatsanga, 38, of Section 5, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts facing fraud allegations.

The State, through prosecutor Zororai Nkomo, alleges that on August 29, Nyatsanga called one Kieth Oposi telling him that his former colleague, one Fredrick Chiriseri was looking for ZWL dollars in exchange with United States dollars.

Nyatsanga then gave Oposi Chiriseri’s number to negotiate the transaction.

Nyatsanga gave Oposi assurance that his accomplice was a genuine person.

Oposi engaged Tinashe Kadzunge, the complainant in the matter and told him to transfer money into Nyatsanga’s accomplice Steward Bank account number.

Kadzunge transferred ZWL$30 000 000 into Nyatsanga’s account.

After the transaction was compleed, Nyatsanga’s accomplice told Kadzunge to wait outside Grain Marketing Board premises together with Nyatsanga to receive his money.

Nyatsanga’s accomplice switched off his phone and never showed up.

Oposi realised that the two had defrauded Kadzunge and made a police report, leading to Nyatsanga’s arrest.

As a result, ZWL$30 000 000 was stolen.

Nyatsanga was ordered to deposit a bail of US$200.

He will appear in court on September 28.
