Zimbabwe could not make it to the final of the Rugby Africa Sevens Cup after losing out to Kenya in their semi-final yesterday.
Kenya were too strong for the Cheetahs, beating them 35-10 to book themselves a place in the final.
In the other semi-final, South Africa got past the Cranes hurdle as they beat Uganda 26-14 at the same venue.
A spirited Blitzboks side shook off Uganda’s early aggression to make sure that the reigning Champions do not retain their title.
South Africa’s victory means that the Blitzboks and Kenya will battle it out in the final for automatic qualification to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Meanwhile, the Cheetahs will be looking for a third place finish when they face the Cranes of Uganda in the third place play-off.
