Labour, Economists and African Democrats founder and leader Linda Masarira has said Citizens Coalition for Change president Nelson Chamisa should consider a career change as he is giving his followers biblical verses instead of meaningful leadership.
“Mmm vahanzvadzi hamusi makuzvinyanya? (My brother, are you not taking it too far) People are waiting for leadership from you? You continue feeding them with false hope. One day, this God you always hashtag will answer you, I presume,” wrote Masarira on her X wall.
Masarira was responding to Chamisa’s post on X in which he said:
“Fellow Citizens; Trust this #Godisinit I believe in. Let them not mock you. He has never let me down before. He will surely visit Zimbabwe. He will show Himself mighty and strong. You will love it. He is always on time. Ignore these manly and sham sideshows. Don’t say I didn’t tell you! Be happy Zimbabwe! Isaiah 33:22 #OnePeople.”
Masarira, who herself failed to raise the US$20 000 that was required to register with the nomination court as a presidential candidate and lost dismally in the 2018 elections told Chamisa that perhaps he did not follow his rightful calling.
“In the meantime, give those who voted for your confidence, not verses. Kana zvanetsa consider opening a church. I think you would make a very good pastor. Mufudzi hwehwai chaiye. (A real shepherd.) Sometimes, we misinterpret God's word. With your stance, I am 100% convinced you were called to preach the word of God not to be a political leader. May the good Lord open your eyes and redirect you to your true calling. Good day!” wrote Masarira on her X wall.
Some X users others appeared to agree with Masarira.
X user,@Mafizhlongo wrote: “Hanzi stop using Gods name in vain. Mwari ndivovanoziva umwe musi (God knows his plans, one day) you guys shall pay.”
“Takazogara gara chamisa ndiye munhu asina plan manje. Just like Madungwe akutofunga kuti maVerse kunakidza vanhu… (Chamisa has no plan he is just like Madungwe (Prophet) who thinks verses interest people),” wrote @Yak_Smokey.
But the majority tore into Masarira telling her to mind her own political ambition.
“What is he supposed to say that you consider to be words of leadership? Why can’t you just say that to your supporters since you are at the same level as party presidents?” Kudakwashe Manenji replied to Linda.
Another X user said Linda wants Nelson Chamisa to encourage people to demonstrate so that he can be arrested.
“Akati vanhu pindai mustreet, you will be the first kubata Paul Nyathi to lock him up. (If he calls for protests, he will be arrested. If he calls for people to keep calm, you says he is weak) Akati keep calm, don’t lose hope, help will come. Womutizve zve politics hazvisi zvako kkkk saka unodei ko iwe wadiii wataura zve party yako mastructures chii chiii 2028 hakusi kure,” he said.

Chamisa rejected the presidential election results announced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission in which incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa garnered 52.6% of the total vote cast while Chamisa trailed with 44%.
Chamisa has indicated that his plan is for Southern African Development Community and the African Union to nullify the elections and hold fresh elections under the supervision of SADC.
Constitutional experts have indicated that AU and SADC have no mandate to administer elections in Zimbabwe.
SADC heads of state indicated their acceptance of the results by either attending or sending representatives to the inauguration of President Mnangagwa.
