Former senior banker turns cleaner in the UK after relocating

A woman claiming to be a senior banker of one of the big banks in Nigeria says she has ended up in a cleaning job in the UK after leaving the white collar job in her home country.

The person going by the name of Floxy Obi notified users on social media that she is currently employed as a cleaner.

She did not name the bank she used to work for or what position she held there making verification of her story difficult.

Floxy uploaded a video of herself cleaning a living room in uniform to TikTok saying that the reality overseas is very different from what many people think.

She said she was finding UK tough going and despite having a high level of education, finding suitable work was not easy.

”UK will humble you. Masters degree holder indeed," she captioned on her video.

Floxxy urged Nigeria’s leadership to make the nation modern so that no person would need to leave:

“Nigerian govt; right all the wrongs and we promise we will come back to our dear country."

Nigeria and other African countries including Zimbabwe have suffered massive brain drain over the past few decades as educated professionals go abroad in search of better opportunities.

Over the past weekend Zimbabwe held a job fair where 757 jobs from 30 companies were on offer. The organisations have been struggling to get skilled workers in various fields as these professionals tend to leave Zimbabwe after qualification.
