The Premier Soccer League has switched off a plan by Harare giants Dynamos to have their match against log leaders Ngezi Platinum played under floodlights at the National Sports Stadium.
Zim Now Sports is reliably informed that DeMbare failed to meet the requirements for the match to be hosted on Wednesday evening.
A source close to Dynamos and PSL said that DeMbare was given a 10am deadline on Monday which was extended to 2pm to meet the deadline which the Harare giants failed.
PSL had requested DeMbare to provide assurances from Zesa Holdings that there will be no load shedding and assurance of a backup plan from the stadium owners.
“Dynamos were asked to provide a guarantee letter of availability of Electricity/Backup from Zesa or NSS by 10am Monday. They failed and deadline was extended to 2pm, after 2pm they still had not secured such a guarantee and request was denied due to time constraints as any late changes affect the planning of referees, stakeholders and opponents and they were advised to apply well in advance with such guarantees in future,” a close source told this publication.
DeMbare was also accused of trying to stir emotions as the PSL communicated in the afternoon but, however DeMbare did not correct the position.
“PSL responded yesterday afternoon after they failed to meet the two deadlines for assurances. They then threatened to go to the media, probably to stir unnecessary emotions with incomplete information,” added the source.
