A Harare man has appeared in court over allegations of using the identity of an accident damaged car on another vehicle.
Peter Yudah, 58, of Highfield, appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Courts facing fraud allegations.
The State alleges that sometime in June 2023, Yudah bought a blue unregistered Hyundai ix35 with chassis number and engine numbers unknown.
He tempered with the chassis numbers of the unregistered Hyundai ix35 by removing and replacing them with chassis numbers belonging to an accident damaged red Hyundai ix35 which he had bought from a garage in Hatfield.
Yudah, allegedly went on to apply for new number plates of the accident damaged vehicle and affixed the new number plates on the unregistered Blue Hyundai ix35 he had bought from one Trymore Chimbambo.
Yudah then sold the car using the tempered particulars.
The value of prejudice is US$8 000.
Yudah will be back in court on November 24.
