Dynamos defeated ZPC Kariba 1-0 away from home to move into second place in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League. Shadreck Nyahwa scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute.
The win moves Dynamos to 49 points, eight behind log leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars. Dynamos also have a game in hand, so they are in a good position to challenge for the title.
ZPC Kariba failed to convert a number of chances and remain in the relegation zone, two points above the bottom two.
Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe was excited with the win.
“We wanted this win since we were playing away from home,” he said.
“This is a good result considering that there were so many factors working against us. I am happy with the result. Hopefully, we can build from this in the upcoming matches.”
ZPC Kariba coach, Luke Masomere remained confident of escaping relegation despite the setback.
“It’s unfortunate that we played well but lost,” he said.
“Our journey in fighting relegation continues and come next year, we are confident that we will be in the premiership. We will utilise chances in our upcoming matches.”
