The BRICS group, an economic bloc of five major emerging markets, is becoming increasingly popular in today’s multipolar world, with about 20 countries interested in establishing partnerships with the group, according to Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.

Lavrov made the statement on the sidelines of the Valdai Discussion Club meeting in Sochi. He said that the expansion of BRICS is a direct confirmation of the world’s growing multi-polarity and that countries are looking for reliable partners.

Six countries have already joined the BRICS group, and almost 20 more countries are interested in establishing special relations with the group, Lavrov said.

BRICS is seen as a reliable association, and the members of the group are seen as reliable partners, he added.
