Two men, who were part of a group that assaulted and robbed a couple, have been denied bail.
Tafadzwa Chayambuka, 29, of Mabvuku and Simon Chihungwe, 34, of Epworth, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi on allegations of robbery.
The State, through prosecutor Thomas Chanakira, alleges that on September 26, 2023, at around 0515 hours the accused together with their accomplices - who are still at large - went to Honest Musara who had parked his Toyota Etios along Bulawayo road after Kuwadzana Extension turn-off waiting for his wife, who was coming from Bulawayo.
Two of the accused greeted Musara and started talking to him and suddenly two others appeared from another direction with stones.
They then hit Musara on the head with a stone after he had come out of his car to pick up his wife’s bags, who had just dropped off a Bulawayo to Harare coach.
They continued to wrestle with him and he later fell down, demanding his phone and money.
The other accused also hit Musara’s wife with a stone on her head, injuring her as well.
They allegedly took Musara’s phone and wallet which had US$300 cash and his identity particulars and his wife’s bags and ran away.
One of the accused dropped Masara’s phone after he called for help.
The total value that was stolen US$900 and only US$10 was recovered.
They were ordered to appear in court on November 1 for bail application.
