Man in court for unlawful entry and theft

A man, who was part of a team that committed a series of house-breaking, stealing from various people, has been denied bail.

Vitalis Manoteka, 23, of Epworth, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi accused of unlawful entry into premises.

The State, through prosecutor Zebediah Bofu, alleges that on August 4, at around 2300 hours, Manoteka and two others who are still at large, went to number 24803 Phase 1, Eastview and forced open the entrance door to get into the house.

They allegedly stole 32 inch Plasma Television, Samsung phone and an itel P36 phone worth US$300 and went away. 

On September 10, 2023, at around 0000 hours, they went to number 763 Manresa Park and forced open the bedroom window and entered.

They allegedly stole a 32 inch LG Television and 12 volts Exide battery worth US$200 and disappeared.

On September 15, 2023, at around 2300 hours, he went to Gazebo shops and force-opened the entrance door of the butchery and stole a gas deep freezer, 20 kilogrammes of pork, 30 kilogrammes of beef, 10 kilogrammes of sausage, 10 kilogrammes of chicken, 48 kilogrammes of gas, 1 butchery scale and cash US$550. 

The total value of stolen property was US$1 360 and only US$450 was recovered.

Manoteka was ordered to appear in court on November 7, for bail application.
