A man, who allegedly assaulted a complainant, accusing him of stealing his phone, has appeared in court.

Nigel Jairos, 28, of Eastview Phase 6, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi accused of assault.

The State, through prosecutor Zebediah Bofu, alleges that on November 4, at around 0300 hours, at Nexus Bar in Eastview, the complainant in this matter - Moses Hamadziripi - was now going home when he was approached by Jairos, who was demanding his phone, from behind.

Hamadziripi told Jairos that he was not the one who had stolen his phone, but he allegedly picked an unknown object and hit Hamadziripi once on the head and he fell down.

Jairos fled the scene and left Hamadziripi lying on the ground, bleeding profusely.

Jairos was ordered to appear in court today for bail application.
