A man who appeared in court facing eight counts of unlawful entry has been slapped with an effective five years in prison.
Edward Makore, 33, of Hatcliffe Consortium, who pleaded guilty to the eight counts of unlawful entry, appeared before magistrate Caroline Matanga.
The State alleges that on October 24, 2023, the complainant secured her property by locking the cabin house door and closed the window, leaving all things intact and went to her work place at Acturus Mine and no one remained behind.
During her absence, Makore went to the complainant’s house and forced open the cabin door to gain entry into the house.
Makore, allegedly, stole the complainant’s 12V car battery, 100W solar panel, 4 dolphin pots, 5 by two-in-one blankets, solar controller and US$90 and went away unnoticed.
The complainant discovered the theft later and filed a formal police report.
On November 13, 2023, Makore was arrested.
The State alleges that on October 28, 2023, at number 214 Hatcliffe Consortium, Makore, without permission from Tayenda Ranjisi, the lawful occupier of the premises, entered Ranjisi’s house and stole a 12V solar battery, solar controller, solar inverter, 1 two-in-one blanket and one hair clipper.
It is also alleged that on the same day, and place, Makore, unlawfully entered without permission from Elisha Makina, her house and stole a window frame, various pvc reducers, extension cable, pole coupling various sizes, soap holder, 2 pillar tapes, various thread tapes, electrical fittings, copper female elbows, capillaries, flex connector, various valves galvanised, two silver tapes, brass tapes, joining kit and various ball valves.
The State alleges that in that on November 9, 2023, Makore went to number 601 Hatcliffe Consortium Harare, where he stole three comforter blankets, a fleece, a sheet, 3kg gas tank, 2 dolphin pots, 12V solar battery, 20W solar panel, 15W solar light, a pair of shoes and a gas cooker top belonging to Christabel Mupatsi.
It is alleged that, the following day at the same place, Makore went and stole two by two-in-one blankets, 5kg gas cylinder, 3kg gas cylinder, satchel, trousers, various grocery items, a mosquito net, a metal spanner and a pot.
It is also alleged that on November 12, he went to number 68 Hatcliffe Extension and stole a Tozho mountain bicycle.
It is alleged that on November 12, 2023, Makore, proceeded to Sadirai Mupatsi's house and allegedly stole a bed mattress, 2 by two-in-one blankets, one comforter, three dagga plates, six dagga cups and a pot.
On November 4, 2023, he allegedly stole form Herbert Marundu four by two-in-one blankets, a sheet, Sun Power satchel, 5kg blue gas tank and a solar light.
