At least four people were killed while two others were injured in an accident involving a Ford Ranger double cab at the 27-kilometre peg along the Mberengwa-West Nicholson Road on Saturday afternoon.
Police confirmed the accident on X wall.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which four people were killed whilst two others were injured when a Ford Ranger double cab vehicle veered off the road to the right before overturning and landing on its wheels at the 27 kilometre peg along Mberengwa –West Nicholson Road on 25/11/23 at around 1130 hours.”
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Zvishavane District Hospital mortuary for post mortem while the injured are admitted at the same hospital.
In Harare, a male juvenile, 11, died while another male juvenile, 10, was injured after being hit by a truck which had veered off the road along Garakara Road near Tafi Shops, Epworth on Saturday.
Police confirmed the incident saying:
“Police in Harare are investigating a fatal hit-and-run road traffic accident in which a male juvenile, 11, died whilst another male juvenile, 10, was injured after being hit by a truck which had veered off the road along Garakara Road near Tafi Shops, Epworth on 25/11/23.”
The boys were playing in the yard at a house along the road. The driver and three passengers who were on board abandoned the truck and fled from the scene.
Meanwhile, a man, 32, sustained leg injuries after being hit by an unknown motorist driving a Mercedes Benz, registration number ACW 4920, along Airport Road near BYD Garage in Hatfield, Harare on Saturday. The motorist did not stop after the accident.
Police are investigating the accident.
