Dynamos ready to revive Zim’s reign in continental football

Zimbabwe’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Dynamos, are not leaving anything to chance in their quest to be counted again among the big guns in continental football.

Arguably the only Zimbabwean team to have left an indelible mark in continental football after featuring in a Champions League final in 1998 against Cote d’Ivoire's Asec Mimosa, the Harare giants return to continental club football with their tails up hoping to be counted among the best in Africa.

Youthful Dynamos head coach Genesis Mangombe, who ended a nine-year trophy drought at the Glamour Boys, is confident of hoisting the country’s flag high.

“Continental football is beckoning but at the moment, we are still celebrating this victory. However, we will bring a few additions to the critical positions but at the same time maintaining the core of our squad, with that we hope we can do well.”

Dynamos last participated in continental club football under Kalisto Pasuwa, but their adventure was not that impressive.

Meanwhile, Pasuwa wrote his own piece of history in Malawi after winning the championship for a record fifth time.
