Housing Development Association chairman connives with construction company to defraud US$3.45k

The chairman of Belvedere West Housing Development Association Pay-Scheme has appeared in court accused of defrauding US$3 450.

Garande Munyoro, appeared before the Harare Magistrate’s Courts charged with fraud.

The complainant in this matter is Belvedere West Housing Development Association Pay-Scheme.

The State alleges that from February 13 to November 5, 2023, Munyoro worked together with Tally Construction Private Limited, the developers of Belvedere West community and lied to the residents of that community.

They highlighted that the quotation of for water reticulation and sewer installation was US$13 250 and made the residents to pay the money, yet the actual quotation was US$9 800.

As a result, Munyoro, allegedly defrauded the residents US$3 450 and nothing was recovered.

Munyoro, who was coming from home, will appear in court on December 9.
