President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Dr John Mushayavanhu as the next Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, taking over from Dr John Panonetsa Mangudya, who will be moving to take up a new post as Chief Executive Officer of the Mutapa Investment Fund at the expiry of his RBZ term in April next year.

The announcement was carried in a statement from the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya.
“Dr Mangudya shall be succeeded by Dr John Mushayavanhu as Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe,” reads part of the letter from Dr Rushwaya.
Dr Mushayavanhu was appointed in terms of the Reserve Bank Act while Dr Mangudya’s appointment is in terms of the Sovereign Fund Act.
Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has also approved the appointment of career diplomat, Ambassador James Manzou, as a Commissioner with the Public Service Commission.
Manzou’s appointment was made in terms of Section 202(1)(b) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe as read with Section 320 of the same Constitution.
Ambassador Manzou’s appointment is with effect from January 1, 2024.
