A Toyota Hiace kombi and a Toyota Probox vehicle were involved in a fatal head-on collision at the 263-kilometre peg along the Harare-Masvingo highway, claiming two lives while several others injured, police confirmed.
The kombi had 12 passengers on board while there were four passengers in the Probox vehicle.
“The bodies of the victims were taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital mortuary for post mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital,” police posted.
Meanwhile, in a different incident police in Nkayi, police also confirmed a hit and run traffic accident at the 45-kilometre peg along the Bulawayo-Nkayi road in which the motorist hit a pedestrian.
Posting on X, police said, “The victim sustained a fractured right leg and is admitted at Inyati District Hospital.”
The motorist did not stop after the accident and is still at large
