Bulawayo erupted in cheers as 20-year-old Irvin Maponga, better known as DJ Irvinex, spun his way to victory in the Carling Black Label DJ Clash.
Defeating 23 other talented DJs, Irvinex claimed the grand prize and sent the crowd into a frenzy.
“I’m still speechless!” exclaimed Irvinex, his voice electric with excitement. “This win is unbelievable! Not only did I get to showcase my skills on this huge stage, but the prize money changes everything. My own studio, top-notch equipment – Carling Black Label just made my wildest dreams come true.”
But the road to victory wasn’t a walk in the park. The competition was fierce, with each DJ throwing down beats that could make your soul dance and your feet fly. Even the seasoned music lovers were left guessing who would take crown home.
Carling Black Label, known for their commitment to quality, assembled a judging panel of DJ royalty – DJ Naida, King Her, DJ Tamuka, and the legendary Babongile Skhonjwa. These masters of the mix scrutinised every set, their insightful comments pushing the competitors to even greater heights.
And then came the moment everyone was waiting for – the announcement of the winner. As Irvinex’s name boomed through the speakers, the ZITF in Bulawayo transformed into a pulsating wave of celebration. Cheers rained down, a symphony of appreciation for the DJ, who had conquered the challenge.
But the night wasn’t over yet. Carling Black Label, always one to keep the party going, brought in the Amapiano heavyweights, Toss and Tyler ICU. The ZITF floor became a living, breathing dance floor, a fitting victory lap for Irvinex and a sonic feast for the soul.
The Carling Black Label DJ Clash is more than just a competition; it’s a platform for rising stars, a beacon for the unheard. It celebrates the raw talent and unwavering passion that lie at the heart of DJing. And in Mutare, DJ Irvinex proved that with a turntable in your hand and fire in your heart, you can turn the dance floor into your kingdom.
