Investigations into sexual exploitation charges levelled against church leader and TB Joshua’s spiritual son, Walter Magaya are yet to be concluded as the Zimbabwe Gender Commission is still calling on complainants and witnesses months after reinstituting the probe.

“We gazetted the intention to investigate inviting complainants to provide us with information. And this is underway," said ZGC chief executive officer Virginia Muwanigwa an interview with Zim Now.

The commission did not give any indication of how far they have progressed and the number or quality of complaints received so far against Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Walter Magaya.

Magaya has publicly linked himself to the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nation TB Joshua who was featured by the British Broadcasting Corporation’s Africa Eye, for reportedly raping, torturing, and subjecting some church members to solitary confinement.

The investigation over two years, detailed the accounts of victims who claimed they were raped and also underwent forced abortions in a secretive Lagos compound for almost 20 years.

Ajoke, one of TB Joshua's daughters, who is the first whistle-blower to reach out to the BBC about the abuse she witnessed at her father's church said: "My dad had fear, constant fear. He was very afraid that someone would speak up."

Investigations into allegations against Magaya began on August 23, 2019 through the gazetting of General Notice No.1444/2019.

This followed some allegations of sexual crimes against the church leader that had played into the public domain.

Some of the accusers later recanted their statements.

But the probe came to naught as it was halted by Magaya through a legal instrument.

Following a successful reversal of the injunction against investigation- in meeting number 38 on the 4th of August 2022, ZGC resolved to recommence investigation.

The commission invited victims and witnesses of Magaya's alleged heinous crimes, which consist of sexual exploitation and abuse of women within his church

Complaints against Magaya should be directed to the ZGC CEO 1st Floor Pax House 89 Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, Harare +263(0242) 250 296; +263(0242) 701101, or email complaints@zgc.co.zw.

Magaya is also currently facing allegations of duping Israeli investors of US$3 million in a botched mining deal.
