Digital Satelite Television’ sports channel SuperSport has said it will now broadcast all 52 matches of the AFCON tournament set to start on January 13.

The sports channel had earlier released a statement on its failure to acquire rights to broadcast the biggest football tournament on the continent, with SABC sports securing the rights instead.

However, in a statement, Multichoice said they had reached a commercially viable agreement with right holders New World TV to broadcast the 34th edition of the AFCON taking place in Ivory Coast.

“Multichoice secured the rights to broadcast the continent’s showpiece tournament, which kicks off on 13 January 2024 until 11 February 2024,” the statement read.

SuperSport CEO, Rendani Ramosha was delighted to avail the news of the partnership, which brings the best of African football to their supporters across the continent.

“SuperSport, the leader in sports broadcasting on the continent, will bring its unrivalled coverage to all the games, with matches available on DStv as well as GOtv across Africa,” Ramosha said.

SuperSport will broadcast the tournament from the first match where the hosts Ivory Coast take on Guinea Bissau.
