Mhangura farmers lose 23 cattle to suspected cyanide poisoning

Villagers in Mhangura lost 23 head of cattle on Saturday due to suspected cyanide poisoning.

“Police in Mhangura are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of cattle due to suspected cyanide poisoning which occurred on 13/01/23 at Rixton Village 4,” police confirmed on X.

The cattle died on the spot after drinking water from a stream near a gold ore leaching plant.

Meanwhile, in Chipinge a suspected murderer is on the run after Peter Sithole Machaka, 19, was found dead lying in a pool of blood at Plot 13, Glendalough Farm.

In another story, a suspected mental patient, Patrick Dzavamwe, 29,  was arrested in Nyanyadzi for the callous killing of his cousin, 4, with an axe and knife on Tuesday afternoon at Zvavamwe homestead, Svongwa Village, Buhera. The suspect allegedly confessed that he committed the offence after waking up from a nightmare.
