Excitement is electrifying the nation as Zimbabwe’s under-19 cricket team, the Young Chevrons, have secured a thrilling spot in the Super Six stage of the ongoing World Cup in South Africa! This impressive feat comes after a nail-biting eight-wicket victory over Namibia, marking their first win of the tournament after facing challenges against Sri Lanka and Australia.
Under the new Super Six format, the top three teams from each group advance, giving the Young Chevrons a chance to shine alongside cricket powerhouses such as Sri Lanka and Australia, who topped Group C.
In the Super Six, Zimbabwe will be grouped with South Africa, West Indies, England, Sri Lanka, and Australia, facing exciting match-ups against South Africa on Wednesday and England on Saturday.
The new format brings added intrigue, as teams carry their points from the group stage and play opponents from the other group who finished in different positions. This means Zimbabwe will take on the top two finishers of Group B, ensuring high-voltage encounters.
Meanwhile, the four teams who didn’t make it to the Super Six will battle it out for positions 12 to 16, adding another layer of competition to the tournament.
