Directors of Zvimba East Veterans Investment Company Private Limited have been arraigned before the courts for defrauding US$13 000 from the company.
Douglas Mandaza, 57, of Whitecliff North, Jowel Muzhamba, 76, of Nyabira, Clifford Rutsate, 68, of Zvimba and Michael Chingadzo, 66, of Nyabira, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts facing fraud allegations.
The complainant, Zvimba East Veterans Investment Company Private Limited, is a company, which is into housing and agricultural supply.
The company is represented by its Executive Finance Director, Deliwe Darknetty Muvuti, 65, of number 14 Schmitt Avenue, St Martins, Harare.
Her duties include receiving and banking company funds as well as making payments including employees salary payments on behalf of the company.
The State alleges that in 2023, Zvimba East Veterans Investment Company Private Limited was formed comprising of nineteen directors inclusive of the accused persons.
They opened an FBC Bank Nostro account in which the company funds were deposited and had six company signatories including one Joe Chimonyo, Deliwe Darknetty Muvuti and the accused persons.
Withdrawals of any money from the bank were only authorised by the chair or vice and any other two signatories.
The State alleges that in December 2023, the accused persons created fake CR6 forms and resolutions, unlawfully removing ten other directors from the CR6 of the company and remaining with nine directors.
The accused persons who had the forged CR6 form and fake resolutions, went to FBC Bank Leopold Takawira Branch, Harare, where they submitted it and successfully changed the signing arrangements of the company.
On December 27, 2023, and January 2, 2024, accused persons went to the same FBC Bank branch where they unlawfully withdrew US$13 000 which they used for their benefits.
It is alleged that on January 2, 2024, the complainant went to FBC Bank Leopold Takawira Branch, Harare and discovered the offence which made them report the matter to the police.
As a result, Zvimba East Veterans Investment Company Private Limited lost US$13 000.
The accused were ordered to appear in court on February 5.
