Man in court over US$238 000 robbery rap

Michael Mashiri

A man who allegedly broke into a company premise and stole US$238 000 - together with his accomplices - has appeared in court.

Kennedy Mbundire, 28, of Overspill, Epworth, appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with robbery.

The State, through prosecutor Anesu Chirenje, alleges that Mbundire connived with his four other accomplices, who are still at large, to rob the complainant’s money.

It is alleged that they produced an unidentified pistol and put the guard on duty under hostage to enter into the complainants’ company offices where they broke in and ground safes and stole US$238 000 in the process.

The State alleges that they shared the money among themselves.

As a result, from the US$238 000, only US$4 000 was recovered.
