A mechanic, who allegedly took his client’s car and sold it, has been taken to court.
Admire Mhute, 37, of Unit A, Seke, Chitungwiza, appeared before magistrate Donald Ndirowei charged with theft of trust property.
He will appear in court on March 15.
The complainant in this matter is Samuel Kulera, 62, Kariba.
The State, through prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, alleges that sometime in November 2019, Kulera’s car, a Mercedes Benz, developed an electric fault and sought the services of Mhute.
It is alleged that Mhute came to Kulera’s former residence in Westlea, Harare and took the car to Chitungwiza so that he could fix it.
Mhute then sold Kulera’s car and took the money for his personal use.
After some time, Kulera checked the progress of the car from Mhute and he kept giving empty promises.
It is alleged that Mhute disappeared, prompting the complainant Kulera to report the case to the police.
The car was worth US$4 000.
