A Victoria Falls magistrate has fined Zambezi Boutique US$500 for using Starlink services without necessary licence documents.
The arrest follows that of the Chinese firm, SAN HE, which was also sentenced to a fine of US$700 in Bindura.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said that the arrest followed a tip-off in September last year, of the company’s possession of Starlink terminals, with the company failing to produce legal documents for the use and possession of the internet service provider equipment.
“Zambezi Boutique Private Limited was sentenced to a fine of US$500 by a Victoria Falls magistrate on charges of contravening the Postal and Telecommunications Act Chapter 12:05 i.e possession, control or operate a radio station without a radio station license,” the NPAZ said in a statement.
The prosecuting authority also added that the company’s Starlink equipment was forfeited to the state.
