The Harare man, who was the driver of the bus caught in a 20 pistol smuggling case, has been taken to court.
Moyo Mthandazo, 45, of Tynwald South, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with smuggling.
Mthandazo, who was coming from home, was ordered to appear in court on April 4.
The State alleges that on March 5, police from Southerton Police Station were informed that Mthandazo had smuggled firearms from South Africa into Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge Border Post aboard Tems Logistics Bus Services, whose intended offloading point was Highglen Road Port, Harare.
The State alleges that team arrested one Douglas Jekanyika and Godknows Gunda when they were collecting the suspected two boxes.
The boxes were opened and one box had 10 x blown F92 toy guns.
The other box had 20 pistols.
The accused persons were interviewed and they implicated Mthandazo as the driver who crossed with the smuggled toy pistols into Zimbabwe.
The accused persons were asked to produce the declaration papers but they had nothing.
On March 12, Mthandazo was arrested by detectives from CID Homicide.
As a result, a value worth R20 000 was recovered.
