The National Prosecuting Authority has confirmed that a Harare fuel dealer, Maropafadzo Energy, has been fined US$600 after they were found guilty of operating without a licence.

A Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority official visited the company’s premises along South Road in Norton on February 28, 2024, and witnessed an employee selling petrol and diesel to customers.

The official requested a Zera retail licence, which the company failed to produce.

The NPA said the company was issued with a notice to produce a Zera retail licence but failed to comply.

Zera then proceeded to the service station with the police on March 13, 2024 and found it still operating. The service station has since been prohibited from operating until they regularise their operation in line with Zera requirements.

A total of 218 litres of petrol and 4 764 litres of diesel were seized from the service station.

“The service station has since been prohibited from operating until they regularise their operation in line with Zera requirements. 218 litres of petrol and 4 764 litres of diesel were seized from the service station.

“The company was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of US$600,” the NPA noted.
