Hardlife Muhamba isn’t afraid of failure. In fact, he views it as a stepping stone to success. This is a man who took a leap of faith in the midst of a pandemic, quitting his stable job to pursue entrepreneurial dreams.
Muhamba’s story is one of resilience, perseverance, and the unwavering belief in the power of a good idea.
In 2020, he left his procurement specialist role to launch a CV Writing business, a decision that met with skepticism from those around him.
“Someone asked me how in my right senses I decided to quit ...” Muhamba recalls. But self-doubt wasn’t enough to deter him. He dove headfirst into the world of entrepreneurship, leveraging LinkedIn to grow his client base. His dedication paid off - what began with just three clients in the first month blossomed into a thriving business.
Muhamba’s entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. Today, he heads Capernaum Financial Services, Hardy The Coach, and Axxelo, ventures spanning human capital management, financial services, and civil engineering.
His drive to empower others stems from his own experiences. Witnessing the challenges faced by individuals and businesses ignited a passion to share his knowledge and become a career coach.
“Sharing insights and strategies could significantly contribute to the growth and success of others,” Muhamba says. His coaching services empower individuals and businesses to navigate their journeys with confidence.
Muhamba readily acknowledges the challenges inherent in starting a business from scratch. From competition to team building, the initial stages were fraught with difficulties.
“Navigating the landscape of lead generation and customer conversion ...” Muhamba recalls. He also candidly discusses the challenges of assembling a team, particularly when resources are limited.
However, Muhamba met these challenges head-on. He developed a unique recruitment model built on transparency and mutual understanding. This ensured he found individuals who were not only qualified but also aligned with the vision of his companies.
The fear of failure was a constant companion, but Muhamba persevered, fuelled by the belief in a brighter future. He credits his wife’s unwavering support as a pillar of strength during this uncertain time. Her full-time employment allowed him the freedom to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams.
Muhamba’s dedication has been recognised. He was shortlisted for the South African TransUnion Rising Star Award and awarded the prestigious 2023 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young Leaders.
His message to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple and powerful: “Start now ... Start and don’t stop.”
